Indoor Emergency

An Indoor Emergency is the causality of an ironic anxiety when looking at the outside from the inside. The emergency that we are grappling with in this space is a suffering from a perpetual, systematic disconnection from nature.

2020 was a shared indoor emergency: a feeling of helplessness from an isolation not only away from people but also from natural environments.

An Indoor Emergency is the causality of ironic anxiety when looking at the outside from the inside. The emergency that we are grappling with is a suffering from a perpetual, systematic disconnection from nature. 2020 was a shared indoor emergency: a feeling of helplessness from an isolation not only away from people but also natural environments. We feel emergencies in binaries [synthetic/organic, experiencing/documenting, near/far, clean/dirty] as they reveal a limited lived experience.

The three part video is motivated by the routines developed during self-quarantine which we specifically explore in the actions of communication and cleaning. The glitches, the longing, the misunderstandings, and the flat images in our video are a shared, common language of contemporary society; that which sustains human connection through technology during the COVID-19 pandemic.
